Powerful images need powerful technology to get the most from them and Park Road has the ability to realise your ambitions. The latest scanning, grading and digital intermediate technology can bring the best out of your film or digitally acquired material.
The ability to manipulate the moving image has never been greater than with the Pablo suite, part of Park Road’s Digital Intermediate Quantel infrastructure, the largest of its kind in Australasia. Park Road houses two Pablo’s, each can work at up to 4K resolution and are complemented by a Quantel iQ, allowing conforming, colour grading, titles and outputting to all standards and the majority of deliverable formats.
One of the Pablo suites has a purpose-built grading theatre with a six metre screen and the latest Barco 2K projection technology and TrueLight colour management system. The theatre can also display a split screen with a 35mm Kinotron projector which assures perfect matching of film and digital outputs.
HD is assuming an increasing importance in the motion picture world and Park Road is completely committed to this technology with two Pandora HD grading suites. In fact, Park Road was the first post production facility in the world to work with data originating from the RED 4K camera. Backed up in-house by substantial technical expertise, workflows can be tailored to suit your requirements accommodating HD and SD post production.
Park Road’s Spirit DataCine can transfer 35mm, 16mm and even Super 8mm film at 2K resolution. In conjunction with Weta Digital we also have the capability to scan at 2K and 4K with the ARRISCAN film scanner. All film is output on the ARRILASER film recorders at 2K or 4K resolution.
Our online options include not only the Quantel Pablo and IQ, but also Final Cut and Avid systems. With 12 terabytes of online storage and 40 terabytes of nearline storage, projects of any size, standard and format are easily supported and accommodated.
2D visual effects are easily accommodated in our online suites. More advanced shots can be completed on our stand-alone workstations using shake, maya, combustion and after effects tools. Park Road has a talented pool of visual effects artists who are experienced in creating visual effects
The Park Road taperoom can handle the majority of SD and HD tape formats. The facility had a large data network and unlimited LTO3 tape storage.
“The split screen in the DI theatre is a phenomenal asset for comparison between film and digital outputs. This, in addition to having an in-house film laboratory, makes for supreme compatibility and truly great control of picture quality. ”
“I have had the luxury of completing two feature films at Park Road. With Clare Burlinson's generous input as Colourist, plus the new Pablo software, the DI process is even faster and more controllable than ever. Seeing your images on the scale that they are projected is wonderful, and then each morning just down the corridor we can see tests from the previous days grade projected on a cinema scale screen. This is the way to go as you are talking to the same team, be it in the DI suite or the Lab, they all care about the final print. ”
